About TrueRentCost
Hi, I’m Immad. I built TrueRentCost after struggling to budget my own apartment move and realizing rental listings never show the full picture. I wanted a tool that shows renters the complete monthly cost — rent, utilities, parking, internet, and insurance — before they sign anything. No surprises, no guesswork, just the real number.
What we measure
Our estimates combine base rent with the most common recurring costs: utilities, internet, parking, and renters insurance. Each figure is based on publicly available data and local market averages, applied through a consistent framework so you can fairly compare costs across cities. The goal is to bridge the gap between an attractive headline rent and your real monthly payment.
Why it matters
A rent decision made on incomplete numbers is a gamble. Knowing your true monthly cost helps you choose the right neighborhood, set a realistic budget, and avoid financial stress after move-in. We focus on plain language and practical numbers — useful for first-time renters and experienced movers alike.
Our commitment
- Transparency: every cost component is shown, not hidden in a total.
- Consistency: the same methodology across all cities for fair comparisons.
- Clarity: simple design so anyone can use it in under a minute.
